The following two maps depict the transformation taking place in Porth Harbour since 2000. While some elements have remained the same, the landmark change was the octagon-shaped castle, which had been left disused, now functions as a hotel today.
The hotel, located in the south-east corner of the map, now takes advantage of a fully dedicated beach for itself; it used to be for everyone. In addition, there is a new access to the nearby road that eventually leads to the main road in the west. The road now passes by not only the lifeboat area but also a newly-built cafes and shops to the west of it. To the west of cafes and shops is now where fishing boats used to dock, but is now Marina for private yachts.
The west of the map has gone through the fewest number of changes. As mentioned, fishing boats and the Marina have swapped places, so the Marina occupies a larger area. On top of that, the car park to the west now has a new set of showers and toilets to its north. The other car park and set of showers adjacent to fishing boats have remained untouched.
To the north, the only major change was the addition of another dock to double the capacity. The passenger ferries and the access to the public beach in the north have witnessed no visible modifications. All in all, there have been only a couple of additional facilities to Porth Harbour.
