Candidate’s Response:

The diagrams illustrate the current layout of Southwest Airport and its changes next year.

Overall, the airport will undergo significant changes, with the most notable being the number of gates and the addition of new facilities such as shops, a sky train, and a car hire service.

Currently, the airport has only 8 gates arranged in a straight line on the northwest side. After redevelopment, the number of gates will increase to 18, arranged in a Y-shape, providing more capacity for flights. Additionally, a sky train will be introduced to facilitate transportation between the gates.

In terms of other facilities, the current airport has basic services such as a café located in both the departures and arrivals sections. After redevelopment, there will be more services, including a new bag drop area in the departures section, ATM machines, and a car hire service in the arrivals section.

Finally, the addition of shops along the walkway leading to the gates will enhance the overall passenger experience, offering more amenities for travelers as they make their way to their flights.

In summary, the airport will be more modern and efficient, with increased capacity and additional services to better accommodate passengers’ needs.

Feedback:

Thank you for writing this report. This response describes the main features and changes between the current layout and the future development of the airport, including some specific details and comparisons. However, it could be improved by more clearly organizing the information and providing more precise language. The task response is fairly straightforward, with minor inappropriacy; there are occasional attempts to use more complex sentences, but the vocabulary and grammatical range remain limited, which aligns with a band 6.0 writing level.

The 6.5 sample upgraded to 7.0+

The diagrams provide an overview of the Southwest Airport's current layout and its planned redevelopment for next year. The most significant change will be the expansion of the gates, which will more than double in number, along with other enhancements in both the departures and arrivals areas.
Focusing first on the departure area, the current layout is relatively simple, featuring a security checkpoint and passport control, followed by eight gates arranged linearly. After the redevelopment, the departures section will undergo substantial changes. The number of gates will increase to 18, organized in a more efficient Y-shaped structure. Additionally, the area will see the introduction of a new bag drop facility before the security checkpoint, streamlining the check-in process. Moreover, a new shopping area will be added after passport control, providing passengers with more amenities before reaching the gates. Lastly, the cafe will be shifted closer to the gate.
Turning to the arrivals area, the existing setup includes a straightforward passport control and customs area with no facilities; in contrast, the upgraded arrivals section will be much more comprehensive. While the passport control and customs areas will remain untouched, new facilities like an ATM and car hire services will be introduced. A new café will be introduced, ensuring that passengers will have access to refreshments.
Overall, the redevelopment of the Southwest Airport will lead to a much more modern and passenger-friendly facility. The introduction of a sky train to connect the newly expanded gates highlights the airport's focus on improving accessibility and convenience for all passengers.
