Candidate’s Response:

The supplied pie charts below summarize the proportions of British students at one university in England who were able to speak other languages in addition to English from (2000) to (2010).

Moving to the Students in 2000 almost less than a third of students were able to speak Spanish whereas only a minority of students were capable to speak two other languages as well as German language. However, 20 percent of students in, 2000 were able to speak in English only that means no other languages and less than a fifth of students belong to the French as well as another language. According to the statistics data a half of the students were able to speak in Spanish and English in, 2000. But then again rest of 50 percent belong to the German, French, two other languages and another language.

In 2010 the number of the students who were able to speak in Spanish raised to 35 percent in contrast to 2000 which was less than a third. The percentage for two other languages increased 5 percent comparing to 2000 which was one in ten but, the rate of students who were able to speak French dropped from 15 percent to 10 percent. However, the number of students for another language increased to a fifth by five percent in contrast to 2000 but the rate for students who speak Germany remained steady as 2000 which was 10 percent. But that being said no other language decreased to one in ten in, 2000 comparing to 2010.

Overall, except German language which was unchanged and no other languages which decreased as well as French language in 2010 the rest of languages raised rapidly comparing to 2000 such as, two other languages, another language and Spanish.

The provided charts present data concerning the language proficiencies of British students enrolled at a university in England, focusing on their capacity to communicate in languages beyond English. The data pertains to two distinct years: 2000 and 2010. The information is visually represented using pie charts, which display the distribution of language abilities.
In the year 2000, a considerable proportion of British students, roughly 20%, lacked the ability to speak any language other than English. Among students with additional language skills, Spanish held the highest proportion, constituting 30% of students, followed by French at 15%. Moreover, 10% of students were proficient solely in German, while 15% could converse in another language. An equivalent 10% demonstrated the capability to communicate proficiently in two other languages.
Moving to 2010, the language landscape among British students at the university exhibited some changes. The proportion of students devoid of extra language skills significantly declined to just 10%. The distribution of language abilities in 2010 depicted Spanish as the dominant proficiency, representing 35% of students. French language skills decreased to 10%, and similarly, German remained constant at 10%. Furthermore, the percentage of students who were conversant in another language saw an increase to 20%, while the ability to communicate proficiently in two other languages maintained its presence at 10%.
In conclusion, the charts underscore the fluctuations in language proficiencies of British university students in the years 2000 and 2010. While the overall percentage of students without additional language skills decreased, the distribution of language abilities among those with skills also shifted, with Spanish showing significant growth in the latter year.
