Feedback:

Thank you indeed for writing this report. It is true that the island name is not given by the rubric, but we still need to refer to it as “the island”. Here’s a good read:

The 6.5 sample upgraded to 7.0+

The line graph depicts the total number of tourists visiting a Caribbean island between 2010 and 2017, along with the breakdown of those who stayed on the island and those who stayed on cruise ships. It reveals a consistent increase in overall tourist numbers, coupled with an interesting shift in accommodation preferences.
In 2010, the island welcomed roughly 1 million tourists, with approximately 700,000 opting to stay on the island itself and the remaining 300,000 choosing cruise ship accommodation. The following two years saw a modest rise in total arrivals, reaching 1.5 million in 2012. Notably, the number of visitors staying on the island increased to roughly 1.25 million, while the cruise ship segment, after experiencing a slight rise, remained relatively constant.
From 2013 onwards, the total number of tourists witnessed a more pronounced upward trend. By 2015, it had climbed to 2.75 million, marking a significant 175% increase from 2010. Interestingly, this surge was driven by a boom in island-based stays, which doubled from 700,000 in 2010 to 1.5 million in 2015. In contrast, the cruise ship segment grew substantially at a much faster pace, reaching just under 1.25 million in 2015.
The final two years of the graph, 2016 and 2017, (and especially in 2017) saw a jump in the growth of overall tourist numbers hitting a record high of 3.5 million. Although the trend towards island-based struggled to stay at 1.5 million, visitor numbers who decided to stay on the ship kept climbing up, reaching nearly 2 million in 2017.
Overall, the graph reveals a prosperous tourism industry for this Caribbean island, characterized by a steadily increasing influx of visitors. Notably in the end of the 8-year period, the popularity of cruise ship tourism has outpaced that of island-based accommodation.
