Candidate’s Response:

These days, news on tv and in newspapers are being stated by photos. Some people believe that these photos are more influential than words. I agree with this viewpoint and will outline my reasons in this essay.

These are several reasons on which readers say that pictures are more significant and effective that words. Firstly, they believe that sentences are very long in newspapers and on TV they are being emerged by long speeches. Such long sentences will be very boring, if they do not have pictures, and there are nothing to say without the pictures. Pyscholologically, people would like to see images in order to pursue a long story. Hence, the importance of the pictures in news are being seen, which cannot be ignored.

In addition, when people are listening to news or reading them, they should be focused on the story so as to completely understand the news’ content, while the pictures can convey the whole message very precises without any concentration on the content. As a result, the significance of the photos are being perceived if people would like to understand the news without extra attempt.

What’s more, the photos in the newspapers and on TV can cause viewer to deeply think about that subject because the images are often comprehensive and show different angles of a story. They can be more eeffective in comparison to words.

For example, if a story states that the mayor of a city is sad, but the image shows that that person is laughing in different photo’s and , people believe that image than the words which are persuading viewers to believe a story.

In conclusion, I believe that the pictures are more influencial than the words because they are not boring like long sentences and people do not need concentrate on them. As well as they are comprehensive in the content than words

Feedback:

Thank you indeed for writing this essay. The question is well understood and categorized. The paragraphs contain all the reasons in an organized way. The essay’s main issue is accuracy; there are genuine attempts to use complex structures, or less common words, or better discourse markers, but there are only a handful of errors preventing these three areas from reaching the higher level.

In today's media-saturated world, news stories presented through television and newspapers are frequently accompanied by vivid imagery. The debate over whether these pictures are more effective than words in conveying information and evoking emotional responses is a complex one. In my opinion, while images undeniably hold significant power in capturing attention and conveying emotions swiftly, words possess a unique ability to provide context, depth, and precision in news reporting.
Firstly, it is undeniable that images have a potent impact on viewers. They can instantly capture one's attention and evoke emotions such as sympathy, shock, or awe. For instance, a photograph of a natural disaster's aftermath can convey the devastation and human suffering more powerfully than a written description. Images have the potential to transcend language barriers and connect with a global audience, making them effective tools for raising awareness and mobilizing support for various causes.
However, words offer a level of depth and precision that images alone cannot match. Written news articles provide context, analysis, and background information, enabling readers to understand the nuances of a story. Words can clarify complex issues, present multiple perspectives, and provide a comprehensive view of an event or topic. In contrast, images, while powerful in their immediacy, often lack the capacity to convey the full complexity of a story.
In conclusion, both words and images play crucial roles in news reporting, and their effectiveness depends on the specific context and the desired impact. While images excel at grabbing attention and stirring emotions, words are essential for providing the necessary depth, context, and precision in conveying information. Therefore, a combination of both, as often seen in news stories, is likely the most effective approach to engage and inform the audience comprehensively.
