Candidate’s Response:

With growth in population, the demand of constructing new living places such as apartments and houses is surging. Countryside may be a suitable option to build new homes due to limitation of city expansion in metropolitan areas while some are concerned that it is essential to prevent building new living places in suburbs to protect. I am of the opinion that supports the idea of new construction in the countryside.

To begin with, the priority of people should be supporting other humankind to have a place to live. People might be forced to migrate to huge cities like Toronto to find a well-paid job, and they may have to pay over 2000 CAD to rent an apartment in downtown. With similar amount of money, they can pay the mortgage of buying a living place in suburbs like Mississauga. Considering the job security and productivity of an individual in working life, it is fair that most people would like to buy homes throughout their life; therefore, taking into account all parameters like available budget and space for building new homes with lower price, constructing in suburbs can be a reasonable option.

Another reason why constructing in the countryside is a tenable view would be the demand distributing the population in the suburb to avoid future side effects of concentrated development. By this I mean, there is a limit for metropolitans like New York and Los Angeles to expand with regard to population. If people would not distribute in less populated countryside, there would be projected disasters like sewage blowout, public health concerns, traffic lockdowns, and so forth. By constructing suburbs, there is a potential for rural and remote areas to be connected to metropolitans and grow in the next decades because people who are going to live there need facilities and welfare to be supported. Consequently, these suburbs will also gradually develop with the migration of people and constructing new buildings for living.

To recapitulate, As far as I am concerned, there can be a good decision to construct new living places in the countryside due to supporting people to have a permanent place to live as well as protecting huge metropolitans from possible disasters in future associated with population growth.

The question of whether to prioritize the construction of new homes in the countryside or to preserve these rural landscapes has ignited a significant debate. In my view, a balance between urban development and countryside preservation is necessary, as both aspects are crucial for a sustainable and harmonious future.
On one hand, the need for new housing is undeniable, particularly in rapidly growing urban areas where housing shortages are a pressing concern. Constructing homes in the countryside may provide a solution to this problem, offering more space for residents and potentially easing the burden of overpopulation in cities. Furthermore, such expansion can boost local economies and create job opportunities.
However, the preservation of the countryside is equally essential. These areas offer numerous environmental, recreational, and cultural benefits. They provide green spaces that contribute to cleaner air, biodiversity, and overall well-being. Preserving the countryside also safeguards the cultural and historical heritage of many regions, maintaining a connection to our past.
A more sustainable approach lies in carefully planned urban development, aiming to revitalize underutilized spaces within cities. Simultaneously, we must implement responsible land-use policies to protect the countryside. By doing so, we can address housing needs while preserving the natural and cultural assets that make our countryside unique.
In conclusion, rather than an all-or-nothing approach, it is essential to find a middle ground. Balancing urban expansion and rural preservation is a way to address the housing crisis while safeguarding the natural and cultural richness of the countryside, ensuring a more sustainable and harmonious future for generations to come.
