You can’t make a list of learning tools without mentioning the Internet at the top! There are tons of useful websites you can visit, but here are two sites you should use carefully:

• YouTube: Despite its popularity, YouTube is not always a reliable source for IELTS preparation. Please make sure where the videos come from before taking their advice and don’t trust what random people say about IELTS. Here is an example of good IELTS preparation videos: Australian Network – Study English
• Wikipedia: Another place with great reading resources is Wikipedia.org; however, if you’re not an advanced English learner, you’d better use the simplified version of that. Learn about virtually anything, improve your reading, get ideas for your essay writing, and learn new vocabulary and collocations.

Electronic devices

Thanks to electricity, more and more electronic devices are playing a part in education. Here are three examples:

• Smartphone: Your phone is with you almost all the time. Install a good dictionary, a good vocabulary learning application (e.g. Anki), keep your English notes on it (e.g. using Evernote, and play fun English games on it.
• Laptop: Just like cellphones, it is a perfect learning companion. Read PDF books on it and make the best use of your English dictionary using the search tools.
• Voice recorder: Listen to yourself; it is a great way to improve your speaking. By recording your own voice and listening to it, you’ll be able to spot your mistakes and will avoid them.

Latest tests

Don’t use random practice materials from random authors and publications. Practise with the best and latest Mock tests:

• Official IELTS Practice Materials 1 and 2
• Cambridge IELTS 6-14
• IELTS test builder 2

Teacher

Choose your teacher carefully. It doesn’t matter what language school you select as long as your teacher is qualified, experienced and has preferably taken the IELTS exam himself at least once.

Stationery

Remember that in the listening and reading sections of IELTS only pencil is allowed. But for the writing section, can you buy antibiotics online in Australia you may use either a pen or a pencil. We suggest you use a pen ( if allowed by the test center) for writing because it is faster to write in pen, no eraser is required and you can simply cross out the wrong word instead of rubbing it out.

As for the answer sheets, make sure you use the original IELTS paper. If you don’t have them already, download them now.
